Elma, WA – The Washington State Department of Transportation will be resurfacing portions of State Route 8, closing lanes for the work.

Crews are set to begin an effort to add a new roadway surface to several areas of State Route 8 between Elma and Summit Lake, as well as repaving the westbound and eastbound SR 8 exits to US 12 Oakville/Centralia in Elma.

The work is set to begin Monday, July 15 and continue into the fall.

Drivers will see single-lane closures in each direction and a lowered speed limit from the current 60 mph to 35 mph during lane closures.

The ramp paving will require night closures, with WSDOT announcing these as they approach.

Residents can follow the progress of the work and real-time traffic information is available on the WSDOT app
