A prisoner walked away from the Olympic Corrections Center over the weekend.

The Washington Department of Corrections and local law enforcement are searching for 60-year-old Mark David Vannausdle, an inmate who escaped from the minimum custody facility near Forks.

According to a release, Sunday morning around 7am the man went missing wile moving from his living unit to the dining facility.

DOC says that correctional employees initiated escape procedures and the facility deployed its Inmate Recovery Team and notified law enforcement who are assisting in the search. 

The Inmate Recovery Team from Stafford Creek Corrections Center in Aberdeen has also joined the search.

Mark David Vannausdle (845800) was convicted of assault 1 and robbery 1 with firearm enhancements out of Pierce County. He began serving a 240-month sentence on Sept. 10, 2002. His release date had been tentatively set for Jan. 1, 2021.
