Driver injured after falling asleep at the wheel

Cosmopolis, WA – A driver who fell asleep at the wheel was injured in an accident over the weekend.

The Washington State Patrol tells KXRO that on Saturday morning at 5:15 a.m. a 26 year old Enumclaw woman was heading north on Highway 101 about 6 miles south of Cosmopolis in a 2013 Ford Explorer.

The State Patrol says that the woman fell asleep and the Explorer drifted off the shoulder, went down an embankment, rolled, and came to rest on the driver’s side.

The Ford ended up partially on Artic Rd.

According to the State Patrol, the woman was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital for her injuries and the Explorer was towed from the scene.

The woman was charged with Negligent Driving 2nd Degree.
