Woman dies after truck falls off cliff

The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office says a couple who were hunting drove their truck off a logging road and it fell about 2,000 feet down a cliff into a ravine.

Deputy Pat Matlock says the woman driving died at the scene and a man in the passenger’s seat was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with critical injuries.

The Centralia Chronicle reports another couple hunting with the pair had to drive to a location with cell phone reception to call for help.

The accident occurred on Weyerhaeuser land, so Pacific County Sheriff’s deputies responded along with the Washington State Patrol and Raymond Fire Department.

Names of the couple have not been released.
