Wind Advisory and High Wind Watch both this weekend

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a wind advisory, is in effect from 1 pm to midnight tonight. A high wind watch has also been issued.

This high wind watch is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Sunday evening.

Wind speeds 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph this afternoon are possible, with the strongest winds on the coast. Winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph are possible on Sunday.

The strongest winds will occur between 3 pm this afternoon and 10 pm tonight. The strongest winds on Sunday will likely be in the afternoon through early evening.

Winds today could snap small tree branches, topple small or shallow rooted trees, and cause power outages. Damaging winds are possible on Sunday.

A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph and/or gusts of 45 to 57 mph are likely.

A high wind watch means there is the potential for a damaging wind event.
