United Way kick off their 2013-2014 campaign with cook-off

Almost $3000 was raised last night for the United Way at the Celebrity Cook-Off held at the Rotary Log Pavilion in Aberdeen.

The United Way for Grays Harbor and Pacific County kicked off its 2013-2014 campaign as local Celebrity Chefs served up their own recipes to the public.

Stacie Barnum, this year’s Campaign Chair said, “I am excited about this campaign. As a long time United Way supporter what is important to me is that what is raised locally stays local. The money that United Way raises stays right here in Grays Harbor and Pacific County and addresses local issues.”

Barnum said that this year, the United Way hopes to top their totals from last year’s campaign. This year, the organization hopes to raise $411,000.

Aberdeen Mayor Bill Simpson came away as the winner of the competition last night by raising the most money for United Way, while Randy Dennis of the Dennis Company was given the prize for raising the most money at the event.

The local United Way supports 22 programs that provide services for Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties.
