Hoquiam, WA – A traffic light could be returning to Emerson Avenue near Central Elementary.

On Monday night, the Hoquiam City Council heard a report from the Public Safety Committee that requests letters be sent to the Washington State Department of Transportation “demanding” that the traffic light on Emerson Avenue near Central Elementary School be reinstalled.

Mayor Jasmine Dickhoff tells KXRO that the light at the crosswalk was removed based on costs associated with maintaining the light.

The report asks that letters be sent from the Mayor, Police Chief, school crossing guard staff, and Superintendent Dr. Mike Villarreal.
