Tesla charging stations coming to Aberdeen

Residents and visitors to Aberdeen will be able to charge their Tesla vehicles soon.

As part of the plans for the Gateway Center project, in July the Aberdeen City Council tabled a proposed plan to install Tesla charging stations at the city owned lot at the entrance to Downtown Aberdeen. Formerly a Chevron gas station, the lot has remained empty for many years.

Originally, the agreement would have seen the City of Aberdeen paying for electricity from the PUD as an incentive to bring the upgrade. As a part of the re-negotiated agreement passed on Wedneday, Tesla will now pay for all costs of charging their vehicles. Councilmember Kathi Hoder explains,

The new charging stations will be implemented into the design of the new parking lot for the City and eventually for the Gateway Center.

Currently there are only 5 charging stations in the state; Centralia, Burlington, Ellensburg, Kennewick, and Ritzville.
