Montesano, WA – The City of Montesano has announced that Chief Financial Officer Doug Streeter will be leaving the city for a job with the Lewis County Public Utility District.

Mayor Vini Samuel says that Streeter “will leave behind a legacy of public service”.

“Doug helped build the foundation of everything we did in the last three-and-a-half years,” said Mayor Samuel. “He worked with everyone—city staff, council members, department heads, lawmakers and local businesses—to make real progress for the people of Montesano.”

First on that list of lasting accomplishments, Samuel said, is turning a city deficit into a balanced budget with a healthy reserve.

“It’s almost impossible to make progress for the people you represent when the city is busy treading water, financially, and trying not to drown,” Samuel said. “Doug’s deep expertise with finances and budgets were fundamental to getting us past that.”

The second major part of Doug’s legacy with the city, according to Samuel, is visible wherever you drive or walk around town.

“Doug was critical to administering the grants we’ve used to build a better Montesano,” Samuel said.

“While he will be missed, we look towards the search for our new team member for the city,” said Samuel. “Change is inevitable, but we will embrace this transition as an opportunity to continue to build on the foundation of good work that we all started for the people of Montesano.”

Streeter’s last day at the city will be July 12.
