SHARP TO LEAD ATNI

Quinault Indian Nation president Fawn Sharp has become the first female to lead the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians in its 58-year history.

She won election on September 21 defeating Michael Finley, chairman of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation by 87 votes.

Sharp says she intends to focus significant energy on upcoming budget issues, land consolidation and strong government-to-government policy.

The Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians consists of 57 member tribal governments located in Oregon, Idaho, Washington, southeast Alaska, Nevada, Montana, and northern California.
