Severe storm warning in effect

At 4:00 PM The National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail. This storm was located 5 miles north of Brooklyn or 16 miles southeast of Aberdeen and is moving west at 15 MPH.

Locations that could be impacted include Aberdeen, Montesano, Central Park, Melbourne, and Cosmopolis.

A severe thunderstorm warning means damaging wind of 58 MPH or greater and one inch or larger hail is imminent or occuring. Those who are in the warned area should seek safety inside a sturdy structure away from windows as soon as possible.

Thunderstorms can also produce frequent and deadly lightning and very heavy rain. Heavy rains can flood roads quickly so do not drive into areas where water covers the road.
