Passenger injured when driver falls asleep at the wheel

Lebam, WA – A passenger of a driver who fell asleep at the wheel was sent to the hospital after an accident.

The Washington State Patrol tells KXRO that on Monday evening at about 5:30 p.m. a 62 year old Vancouver man was driving a 2009 Dodge Ram east on State Route 6 about 3 miles east of Lebam.

The State Patrol says the man then briefly fell asleep and the Dodge veered into the ditch on the eastbound side of the road.

The truck received reportable damage and was towed from the scene and the man’s passenger, a 60 year old Vancouver woman, was transported to Willapa Harbor Hospital for her injuries.

The State Patrol says the man was not injured in the accident and he was charged with Negligent Driving 2nd Degree.
