New Public Works Director for county

Grays Harbor County has a new Public Works Director.

The County Commissioners approved the hire of Joseph Seet to the position on Monday replacing Kevin Varness who recently retired.

Seet has a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Idaho.  During his 5 year tenure as the City’s Public Works Director/City Engineer for the City of Edgewood, he managed and supervised the Public Works Engineering, Construction, Storm water & Maintenance departments.

His experience includes a Traffic Engineer for the City of Pasco, City Engineer for the City of Woodinville and Transportation Engineer for WSDOT.

They say Seet has experience in grant writing and has successfully applied and received over $2.5 million in grants and loans from state, federal and Public Works Trust Fund Board.

They say his management and leadership experience attained throughout his professional career has provided him with the skills to work closely with staff to understand individual and collective needs of the team and he encourages open communication and easy accessibility through an open door policy.

Seet’s first day will be May 2.
