The Grays Harbor County Commissioners appointed a new Public Health and Social Service Director.

Karolyn Holden was appointed on Monday by the commissioners and will take the post on July 1st, following the retirement of current Director Joan Brewster.

Brewster says “Karolyn is an incredible resource to Grays Harbor.”

She says “We have all gained a great deal from her wisdom and long tenure. She is part of the community. She understands our health issues and the challenges we face. She is an accomplished leader who has terrific ideas for the future.”

Holden says “I have had the great privilege of working closely with both Joan and her predecessor, Maryann Welch.”

She says “Their mentorship has been invaluable and I’m excited to have the opportunity to carry on in this new capacity.”

The commissioners have also accepted the appointment of Mike McIntosh as Social Services Manager which reports to the director.
