New council member for Hoquiam

The City of Hoquiam has a new council member.

It’s been 3 months since Ward 6 Councilwoman Kay Diehm stepped down from her seat on the Hoquiam council, and her seat has been filled.

Hoquiam Middle School teacher Angela Forkum was officially sworn in on Monday.

The city put out a request for applicants to fill the position in January, with 5 residents applying for the position. This month, the council was able to hear from each of the candidates and Mayor Jasmine Dickhoff encouraged all applicants to try again when a seat is open.

Forkum will serve her first meeting in April.
