Multiple vehicle prowls reported in Hoquiam

The Hoquiam Police Department is warning residents about recent vehicle prowls on the West End.

Police Chief Jeff Myers tells KXRO that so far there have been a total of six reported vehicle prowls, five of which have occurred in the west side of the city including O Street, the 400 & 500 blocks of Eklund, the 900 block of Spruce, 800 block of 3rd, and the 2300 block of Pacific Ave.

All but two prowls were on unlocked vehicles. Some of the items taken included two firearms, stereo equipment, and a GPS system.

Myers asks residents to make sure they lock their doors, do not leave valuables in the car and immediately report suspicious persons or activity.

Crime watch volunteers will be going through the neighborhoods today posting flyers on parked vehicles in the impacted area to spread the word.
