Mud slide blocks highway

A mud slide blocked a highway for nearly an hour yesterday.

The Hoquiam Police Department tells KXRO that they were on the scene of a mud slide that was partially blocking SR109 near MP 2.5 between the SR109 Spur and Grays Harbor City.

They say at one point both lanes were blocked by trees, but a Good Samaritan was able to chainsaw some of the debris and open one lane.

Police directed traffic through that lane before the arrival of WSDOT crews.

The WSDOT says that the slide blocked the road from 4:12pm to 5:08pm.

WSDOT also says that the slide on US Highway 12 near Porter Creek that was blocking traffic since Saturday was cleared just after 4:30pm yesterday.
