The Hoquiam Police Department found a kayak without a boater, and they are looking for the owner.

In a post, HPD says that on Sunday, July 21st, officers were dispatched to the area near the Fifth Street Extension regarding a kayak floating on its own.

Sgt. Salstrom and Officer Spaur were able to recover the kayak at the shore line, although there was no-one around to claim it. They say that the kayak may have come loose elsewhere and floated to the area.

The kayak was taken to HPD in the new animal control-code enforcement van which was recently placed into service and the owner is being sought.

If you are missing your kayak, or know who it belongs to, contact HPD during office hours M-F, 8AM-5PM to provide proof of ownership.
