Local veterans honored in Aberdeen

National Guard troops met at Zelasko Park on Tuesday to honor Grays Harbor veterans who lost their lives defending our country.

Each year, the National Guard travels around the country to give a public reading of the names of those soldiers who have died and have not yet received their public recognition.

Residents read through the list of 63 names as a National Guard soldier rang a bell in the park to honor each one.

Mayor Bill Simpson was on hand to present the flag to soldiers as the ceremony proceeded.
