Grays Harbor Election results are set to be recounted tomorrow to see if any changes come to the local races.
In a close race in Aberdeen, Tawni Andrews currently leads John Smith for his seat on the City Council. After a count from the Grays Harbor Auditors Office on Thursday, Andrews leads by only 11 votes for the seat, 204-193.
Recently deceased former City Councilman John Erak continues the lead for his former seat over Alan Richrod, who was named as the replacement for the seat on the Aberdeen City Council following Erak’s death. Despite only one living candidate, both names still appeared on the ballot.
Richrod says that he spoke with officials and “Evidently, the only way that a person’s name can be removed from a ballot, once they have registered, is for that person to have it removed themselves.”
Richrod says that Ward 5 “will continue to be represented to the best of my ability and thoughts of John Erak are never far from my mind.”
In Hoquiam, Richard Pennant currently leads John Weidl in the race for a City Council seat with only 8 votes separating the 2 men at 107-99.
In Taholah, a school district seat race is tied between Carl Jackson and William Adams, both candidates showing 49 votes.
Votes are scheduled to be recounted on Wednesday and certified on November 26.
