Local boxer wins championship

A local boxer won a championship in Virginia over the weekend.

165 lb Jakob Herron fought in the U.S. Intercollegiate Boxing Association Boxing Nationals at Virginia Military Institute against Kevin Togami of the University of Miami.

Herron won his fight for the 165 lb championship in the Beginner Division

Herron trains locally, and works as a trainer at the YMCA of Grays Harbor according to reports.

The national boxing championships were held in Cocke Hall at VMI, and were sponsored by the USIBA.
