JAPANESE TSUNAMI SPURS PREPAREDNESS BLITZ

In the wake of last week’s tsunami advisory, the City of Hoquiam has announced it’s goal of becoming the latest Tsunami Ready Community on the west coast. Fire Chief Ray Pumphrey says there are a number of criteria the city must reach to be declared Tsunami Ready, including signs, drills and awareness programs. In Aberdeen, officials are also hoping to strike while tsunamis are fresh in people’s minds. A Tsunami/Disaster Preparedness Workshop will be held on Monday evening at 7:00 at city hall, covering NOAA radios, emergency kits and other information needed to be ready for a natural disaster.
