Hoquiam Police investigate burglary at Saran Lutheran Church

The Hoquiam Police Department is looking for any information on who broke into the Saran Lutheran Church.

According to HPD, on September 12, church staff discovered someone had entered the church and, “had spent a great deal of time inside the building”

Staff told police that the church secretary’s office was ransacked, but nothing of significant value appeared to be missing other than petty cash.

The report says that the suspect attempted to break into the pastor’s office but injured themselves in the process and left blood samples and fingerprints at the scene.

Also at the scene were “some strange handwritten notes left behind”.

Hoquiam PD is working with Aberdeen Police to see if there is a link to a similar burglary at an Aberdeen Lutheran church a few days prior.

The fingerprints and blood samples will be sent to the Washington State Patrol, but this could take “several months” to receive results according to Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myers.

They are asking for anyone with information to contact Hoquiam Detective Don Grossi at 360-532-0892 x 295 or dgrossi@cityofhoquiam.com.
