Hoquiam a Tree City USA for the 6th year

Hoquiam has been named as a Tree City for the 6th year in a row.

On Arbor Day, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recognized 84 cities chosen as a Tree City USA®. DNR recognizes cities that earn the title for their efforts in keeping urban forests healthy and vibrant.

To be acknowledged as a Tree City USA® by the Arbor Day Foundation, a city needs to have either a tree board or a city department responsible for tree care and management, establish a tree ordinance, spend at least $2 per capita on tree care, and celebrate Arbor Day.

Hoquiam is the only local city with the distinction.
