Grays Harbor Woman Found as Possible Mother to Dead Infant

The possible mother of the dead infant found in Ocean Shores was located thanks to tips from residents.

Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myers said that detectives were on scene at a vacant lot in Ocean Shores this morning, searching the area for clues on the identity of a mother for a dead infant found Friday evening.

According to Myers, tips from residents led detectives to a Grays Harbor couple at an area motel. The 21 year old woman at the motel and a man are being interviewed.

Detectives believe that the infant was born at the motel before being left in the vacant lot in the 200 block of Fisher Avenue NE.

A woman walking her dog late Friday found the body of the infant. Detectives say that because of visible trauma to the body, an autopsy is being performed to determine cause of death.

The case is being investigated as a homicide.
