Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Deputy given commendation

Grays Harbor Sheriff Rick Scott awarded one of his deputies at the County Commissioners Meeting yesterday for going above and beyond in the line of duty.

Sheriff’s Deputy Richard Ramirez received the Meritorious Service Medal for his actions during a domestic violence altercation on June 12th. Sheriff Rick Scott presented the medal and said that Ramirez responded to the call and went into the Oakville home without back-up because he heard the scream of a woman inside.

When Ramirez went inside he saw the woman pinned to the ground with a man on top of her while hitting her in the face. After a struggle, Ramirez was able to handcuff the suspect and wait for additional officers.

Scott commended Ramirez for his selflessness and quick decision making.
