COUNTY CUTS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH POSITIONS

Cuts in state funding will mean a reduction in the workforce at the Grays Harbor Health and Social Services office. The cuts were first reported by the Daily World on Monday morning and will include the elimination of one Licensed Practical Nurse, two secretarial positions and reduction of one social worker position from fulltime to halftime. Public Health Director Joan Brewster says the positions are likely to be the first in a line of reductions as revenue and grant programs are cut. Brewster says her department will continue to provide services in spite of the cuts, adjusting staff levels as the funding level allows.
