Commissioners approve new treasurer position

A split decision on a budget item saw approval at the county.

The Grays Harbor County Commissioners approved a supplemental budget item for the Treasurer’s Office at their Monday meeting to help the upcoming transition in the department.

Treasurer Ron Strabbing explained why the increase of $41,900 was needed.

The funding will create an account manager position.

Commissioners Frank Gordon and Vickie Raines voted to approve the request while Commissioner Wes Cormier voted no.

Cormier said he voted no because it was not in the budget they had previously passed.

Strabbing has announced that he will be retiring in November.
