“Cobain Mural” planned for Downtown Aberdeen

The Aberdeen City Council heard from the artist that is taking on the next mural project for the city.

The council heard from guest speaker, artist, and Grays Harbor College professor Erik Sandgren last night on his plans for the latest mural in Aberdeen.

Sandgren said the project is going to be on the Moore’s building and for a lack of a better name at this point will be called the “Cobain Mural”. Sandgren described his plans for the mural.

Saying that he would like to use elements from the building’s history taken from historic Jones Photos in the project, and plans on extending the project for the length of the building. The mural is meant to be a tribute to Kurt Cobain and his accomplishments, and will include a section meant to be used as a photo opportunity for tourists.

Sandgren also thanked the City Council for their recent part in lowering permit costs for mural projects.
