Citizen Disaster Drill this Saturday at SouthShore Mall

The Grays Harbor Citizen Disaster Drill is this Saturday from 10-3pm at the South Shore Mall entrance near the former location of JC Penney’s. This will be as close to a true disaster event as you can get without experiencing one. Grays Harbor County Emergency Management will be setting up a sheltering area for people and pets, as well as areas for medical assistance, communications and mass feeding.

Emergency Management will be using a large portion of the mall for the setup of equipment and it is up to citizens to help make it all happen. There will be plenty of reference and assistance personnel on hand but they will need residents to get your hands dirty and set up a shelter as though the area suffered a large earthquake with people needing shelter, and medical assistance.

This is an opportunity for everyone from those with little to no training, to those who are fully trained. Everyone is invited, youth groups, schools, churches, CERT teams, medical professionals, pet enthusiasts, and individuals.
