Anonymous donor gives around $6000 to Hoquiam Chief for a Day

The Hoquiam Police Department posted the news that they have once again received a generous donation from an anonymous source.

Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myers said, “As we experienced two years ago with our first Chief for a Day fundraising effort, a taxi cab showed up at HPD last week with an anonymous, heavy envelope addressed to Chief for a Day.”

Myers said that when an officer opened the envelope, inside were 4 separate $100 bills inside sleeves. Inside each bill was a gold South African Krugerrand.

“To the generous donor of this wonderful gift, please accept our appreciation and sincere thank-you! It brings tears to our eyes to once again be so lucky to be supported in this way. On behalf of our department and our Chief for a Day and his family, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you!”

Myers said that under the current gold prices, each Krugerrand is worth approximately $1,400, totaling $6,000 from the anonymous source.
