Animal control issues in Cosmopolis

There was another animal incident in Cosmopolis.

Cosmopolis Police Chief Casey Stratton reported that he had a dog charge and take a nip at him while he was on a call for a separate matter.

Stratton said because of a previous incident in Cosmopolis where a dog was killed while it was attacking an officer, he was worried about what would happen should he have to defend himself. He said the public’s perception is important but the safety of his officers and the public is the priority.

Mayor Frank Chestnut spoke on the issue as well and reminded the public that there are leash laws in Cosmopolis.

Stratton said the dog that approached him was scheduled to be impounded yesterday but the owner did not show.
