ACCIDENTS MAR WEEKEND ON TWIN COUNTY ROADS

A pair of accidents blocked a pair of main roadways in the Twin Harbors over the weekend.

A lane of US 101 in Pacific County was blocked for nearly 10 hours on Friday by a jack-knifed semi. The State Patrol reports the truck loaded with fish was travelling to fast as it crossed the centerline north of Ilwaco and rolled onto its side. The driver, a Centralia man, was uninjured.

Two women were taken to Community Hospital on Saturday evening following a head-on crash on SR109 one mile north of Hoquiam. The State Patrol says the car driven by a 35 year old Cosmopolis woman crossed the centerline and struck a northbound vehicle driven by an 18 year old Taholah girl. Both cars were totalled in the accident. Both occupants were reportedly wearing seatbelts. The Cosmopolis woman was eventually airlifted to Seattle for further treatment. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
