Aberdeen takes first step towards sprint boats

The Aberdeen City Council took the first steps in bringing a sprint boat park to town.

At last night’s council meeting they passed the first reading of an ordinance that would annex property the city owns near the Bishop Athletic Complex.

The property is adjacent to the both the Bishop Athletic Complex as well the current city limits.

Councilman Denny Lawrence also proposed to have Mayor Bill Simpson form a committee that will devise a master plan for the entirety of the Bishop Complex.

That proposal was passed unanimously. The next step will be the second reading of the ordinance and a public hearing that comes along with it.
