Aberdeen Police investigating possible attempted kidnapping

Aberdeen, WA – Aberdeen Police are investigating a possible attempted kidnapping that happened over the weekend.

The Aberdeen Police Department tells KXRO that on Saturday afternoon at about 12:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a possible attempted kidnapping in the area of the 500 block of East 1 st Street.

According to the reporting party, a five year old girl was playing on the sidewalk near Jo’s Deli when a man with shaggy blonde hair and a mustache picked up the child.

Police say the girl started screaming, and the man put the child down and got into a red pickup truck and left the area.

Aberdeen Police say a neighbor reported seeing a red truck in the area at the time driving at a high rate of speed.

They say the truck was described as having a large garbage can in the bed, and a large scratch across the passenger side of the tailgate and the driver was also described as having blonde shaggy hair.

Officers searched the area and were not able to locate the vehicle or the driver.

The Aberdeen Police Department is requesting anyone with information or surveillance footage of the area that may have captured the suspect or vehicle to please call the non-emergency dispatch phone number at 360-533-8765, and ask to speak to the on duty Sergeant.
