Aberdeen man airlifted to Harborview after accident near Montesano

Montesano, WA – An accident near Montesano sent a man to Harborview and blocked traffic on the highway.

The Washington State Patrol tells KXRO that just before 10:15 p.m. last night a 22 year old Aberdeen man was heading west on SR 12 about a mile west of Montesano in a 1999 Mercury Mystique.

They say the man drifted into the median, over-corrected, and then went back and forth across the road hitting the guardrails on both sides.

The car then went back into the road before coming to rest against the right guardrail.

The State Patrol says the man was not wearing his seat-belt and he was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for his injuries.

The Mercury was totaled and the state patrol says the westbound lanes of the highway were closed for about 2 hours and 15 minutes.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
