Aberdeen Finance Director Kathryn Skolrood hired by PUD

The Grays Harbor Public Utility District has selected City of Aberdeen Finance Director Kathryn Skolrood to serve as the utility’s Chief Financial Officer.  The hiring was announced on Friday afternoon by PUD General Manager Dave Ward.  Skolrood’s anticipated start date will be April 27th.

“I am so excited to welcome Kathryn to the Grays Harbor PUD and look forward to working with her.  The process that lead the utility to Kathryn was open and thorough, but most importantly it ended with the best possible candidate being selected for the PUD and it’s customers,” said Ward.  “In addition to being a brilliant financial planner and manager, Kathryn has a reputation for fairness, collaboration and team building that make her the perfect fit for this crucial position within the Grays Harbor PUD.”

As CFO, Skolrood will be responsible for preparing and monitoring the utility’s annual budget, reporting on utility finances and administration of the PUD Accounting Department.  In addition, she will work with the utility Power Manager and General Manager to evaluate and manage utility revenues and work as a member of the PUD’s Senior Leadership Team.

“I am both grateful and excited for the opportunity to serve the residents of Grays Harbor as the CFO of their utility district,” said Skolrood.  “For 28 years I have served my friends and neighbors in Grays Harbor through public accounting and positions within municipal and county government.  I have always enjoyed working for the organizations that serve the people of Grays Harbor and the chance to continue that service at the Grays Harbor PUD is a great opportunity and one I am very much looking forward to.”

Prior to working at the PUD, Skolrood worked as the Finance Director for the City of Aberdeen (2006-present) and the City of Hoquiam (2001-2006).  Prior to that she served as the Deputy Director for the Grays Harbor County Public Health and Social Services Department and as the Audit Manager for Preszler, Larner, Mertz & Company in Aberdeen.  A graduate of Grays Harbor College and Saint Martins University, Skolrood is originally from Hoquiam where she lives with her family.
