A coin flip chose local leadership

With a new year comes the election for a new council president for the Aberdeen City Council and it didn’t come without a twist.

The Aberdeen City Council had to vote for a new president at last night’s meeting and both last year’s president Councilwoman Kathi Hoder and Councilman Pete Schave were nominated.

The vote came down to a six to six tie and had to be decided by Mayor Bill Simpson, but it was actually decided by the flip of a coin as Simpson said that both were equally qualified.

Pete Schave will be the new council president for Aberdeen simply because Kathi Hoder called heads.
