911 employees honored on September 11

In addition to Patriot Day, September 11th is “911 Day” in honor and recognition of 911 operators, dispatchers, and the contributions they make. The day was first proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan in 1987 and has been celebrated ever since.

911 Day has been overshadowed since 2001 when September 11 has been recognized as a day of remembrance, honoring those we lost.
