520 PONTOON CONSTRUCTION BASIN IN ABERDEEN TAKING SHAPE

The facility to build the pontoons for the new Highway 520 floating bridge in Seattle is taking shape at the Port of Grays Harbor.

Project engineers say they expect to complete the first batch of pontoons by April of 2012.

The project is estimated to pump $750,000 a month into the local economy.

This photo is a view of the basin construction work. On Monday, KXRO’s Rick Johnson will have a special report on the project including an interview with a local worker who transitioned from the military to working on this project.  You can hear the report at 6:10, 7:10 and 8:10 am and on the KXRO News at Noon.
