2 people apply for Aberdeen City Council seat

Aberdeen’s City Council has an open position in the fifth ward and two people have put their names in for the council to choose from.

Alan Richrod, who had filled the position since former Councilman John Erak’s death and lost to Erak in the recent election, and William Simpson, son of Aberdeen Mayor Bill Simpson, are the two candidates for the seat.

Both Richrod and Simpson spoke on why they would like to be on the council and cited the local economy as something they would like to focus on.

Council President Kathi Hoder was not in attendance at the meeting so the decision on the fifth ward seat was postponed to December 30th.
