Police Officers are in the business of protecting lives, but on Wednesday night, three local officers were awarded for saving them.
Five total awards were given on Wednesday night to three officers in the Aberdeen Police Department for their actions in the line of duty that saved the lives of those in danger.
At the Aberdeen City Council Meeting, Police Chief Bob Torgerson and Detective Jeff Weiss, as well as numerous uniformed officers, were on hand during the presentation of Life Saving Awards to Officers Monte Glaser, George Kelly, and Sergeant Ross Lampkey.
Individual awards were presented to Officers Glaser and Kelly for their actions in separate incidents in 2014, while all three received the award for their actions during the January Storm of 2015 following a landslide that struck a home.
Detective Weiss described their efforts.
All three were presented with a plaque, a medal, a standing salute from officers in attendance, as well as a standing ovation from the crowd.
