Local unemployment rose in November, Grays Harbor now 4th highest

Grays Harbor numbers increased slightly in November, placing us 4th highest in the state.

The Department tells KXRO that in November, numbers locally show Grays Harbor with an 8% unemployment rate, setting us behind Ferry, Wahkiakum, and Pacific County. In October, our rate sat at 7.8%.

The local labor force grew for the 3rd month in a row, adding approximately 400 jobs since October. Historically; in 2014 at this time the local rate sat at 10.6%, 11.4% in 2013, down from the recent high of 13.6% in 2010.

Pacific County shows an 8.4% rate, up from 7.8% in October, also raising their labor force slightly by 42 workers.

These figures coincide with statewide numbers, where the unemployment rate sits at 5.3%, increasing slightly from October as well.
