Local Farmers Nominated for Tree Farmer of the Year

Grays Harbor tree farmers could be named as a Washington State Tree Farmer of the Year in April.

Ken and Bonnie Miller own 83 acres of land in Grays Harbor and . They were nominated by South Sound Farm Forestry Association for the award.

The other nominees are Kristoferson Farm on Camano Island, Hillcrest Tree Farm near Chehalis, and Woodpecker Tree Farm in Poulsbo.

Candidates are nominated by Tree Farm Inspectors and local chapters of the Washington Farm Forestry Association.

Four nominations have been made for 2013. Judging was done in September 2012, but the winner will not be revealed until April 26, at the annual meeting of the Washington Farm Forestry Association.
