The Hoquiam Police Department says that 2 Registered Sex Offenders are moving in the town, and both are classified as Level 3.
23 year old Brett Swarthout will be living in the 2100 block of Cherry Street. He was convicted in 2000 with Indecent Exposure and Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes, and in 2004 with Rape 2nd Degree. Both cases were in Grays Harbor.
43 year old Robert Strasbaugh is considered a transient within Hoquiam. He was convicted in 1990 with Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes in Lewis County and the same crime again in 2007 in Thurston County.
Neither man is wanted by police at this time. These offenders have served the sentences imposed to them by the courts and have told the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office of their new residence.
The Hoquiam Police Department has no legal authority to direct where a sex or kidnapping offender may or may not live. Unless court ordered restrictions exist, a offender is constitutionally free to live wherever they choose.
Approximately 400 sex or kidnapping offenders are registered in Grays Harbor County. Approximately 48 of them live within the city limits of Hoquiam.
