Grays Harbor rises to 3rd highest unemployment statewide

The Washington State Department reports that August unemployment sits at 8.8%. This is an increase since 2015 when August numbers sat at 8.3%, but lower than August 2014 when unemployment was 9.3%

In July, unemployment in Grays Harbor was shown to be at 8.3%, based on residents who were unemployed and actively searching for work using State resources. This includes a total figure of 633 people using those services.

The local work force dropped by over 200 in August, from 27,387 to 27,148 with total employment also dropping from 25,010 to 24,772.

Grays Harbor is currently ranked 3rd highest in the state, behind Ferry and Pend Orielle Counties.

Pacific County sits at 7.6% for August , with their labor force dropping by 100 from 8,419 to 8,318
