Full Scale Disaster Exercise at South Shore Mall

announced that they have rescheduled and are preparing for a Citizen Full Scale Disaster Exercise on Saturday December 7th at the from 10am to 3pm.

This event was scheduled for September 21st, but had to be rescheduled due to logistical issues. Deputy Director of Emergency Management said circumstances forced the change.

The event is open to anyone, including Community Emergency Response Teams, organizations, and individual citizens. Those who attend should be prepared to work with others to set up a true life scenario assembly area with shelter housing, medical care, mass feeding and communications. There will also be information available with speakers throughout the day.

Wallace said, “This will be a large event with lots of hands-on work.” Members of numerous response agencies will be on hand to demonstrate and assist those who participate.

The exercise will use the interior of the Mall as well as the parking lot for the exercise.
