FORMER MONTE CHIEF PLEADS NOT GUILTY

Former Chief Ray Sowers has plead not guilty to charges of theft and falsification of records. Sowers appeared in court on Monday morning for his arraignment and was released until his next appearance. prosecutors are pursuing charges against the former chief who allegedly used a city credit card to make over $10,000 in illegal purchases over a period of a year and a half. Sowers was relieved of his duties last summer and resigned in September.
