First ballot count for Grays Harbor will be delayed

Election day on Tuesday, November 6, is rapidly approaching.

As we get closer to the election, Grays Harbor County Vern Spatz wants to remind residents that November 9th, the Friday following the election, is a scheduled, unpaid, furlough day for a portion of our county including that office. Normally, the next work day would be Monday, November 12th. However, the county will be closed in honor of our veterans serving to protect our country that day.

The first ballot count update will not then occur for Grays Harbor County until Tuesday, November 13th, one week after the election. The furlough day was scheduled by the Board of County Commissioners to meet budgetary needs for 2012.

Since this may cause concern in the event of a tight local, state, or national race Spatz says he felt it necessary to provide an advance notice.
