Additional street improvements are coming to Aberdeen.
On Wednesday, the Aberdeen City Council approved an amendment to their 2016 Transportation Benefit District plan for local roads, funded from tax dollars, which will lead to 9 more local projects being completed.
According to Public Works Director Rick Sangder, the original 7 projects on the list cost the city less, so they want to use the money they have
In 2012, the option of a Transportation Benefit District was brought before the City Council.
At the time, the district would impose a sales and use tax of up to thirteen-hundredths of one percent(0.0013) to finance transportation projects. This means that if a resident spends $10 thousand locally, the tax would equal $13 going toward local projects.
This was passed by voters in February of 2013.
